Concrete Barriers

Temporary vertical concrete barrier are mainly used to create a safe working zone between live traffic lanes and construction operatives or plant equipment. They provide immediate protection and separation as well as a visible deterrent to control traffic speeds. TVCB's can be used not only to separate vehicular and pedestrian traffic but can provide temporary protection at bridge piers, lighting columns and road signage. Other uses include securing areas such as building sites, car parks, public or private land.

The barriers are simple and quick to install in all weather conditions and they can be easily dismounted and relocated, giving a high degree of flexibility in traffic management schemes.

There are two types of barriers: Intermediate and Termination units.

The Intermediate beams are symmetrical in section and can be inverted making them suitable for both verge and central reserve use.

The Termination leading and end units of the installation may be secured to the carriageway using anchor plates which can be provided and need to be specified for verge or central reserve.

It is mandatory for motorway use that the beams are bolted together and the leading and end terminators are anchored to the carriageway with the next three intermediate units.

NMS are one of the few Sector Scheme 2B approved installer of TVCB's in the UK. This Quality Management Scheme is mandatory for highway contracts on trunk roads and motorways.
