Works Package
- The scheme aims to improve the highways and pedestrian spaces and environment within the town centre focusing on Blackburn Road and the space in front of the Town Hall and Market Hall.
- Footway construction works, incorporating new kerb lines, block paving, granite setts, Yorkstone paving, asphalt surfacing, drop crossings, raised bus stop access points and provision of level access thresholds to shops.
- Carriageway realignment and resurfacing works with the application of new road markings.
- Installation of brass sculptures to represent ‘Patch’ the Accrington Stanley FC dog, an Accrington PALs’ dog and a squirrel to represent the Acorn Trial
- Installation of steps to the side of the Town Hall in solid Yorkstone
- Placement of ornate street furniture, including: seating, litter bins, lighting, trees and tree furniture.
- Installation of bespoke Timber and Granite Duckboard Seats (see photo below)

Hazards and Restrictions
- Maintaining both safe footpath and vehicular access throughout the works including Police vehicles to their
depot. - Sensitive operations to be carried out during off peak hours
- Various buried services along the length of the site.
- Ensuring all deliveries were controlled, and prearranged adhering to the local authority restrictions, by the site management team.
